Eagles acquire and trade an offensive tackle in separate transactions

The Philadelphia Eagles were involved in two separate transactions involving offensive linemen according to Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports on Sunday. First, they acquired offensive tackle Fred Johnson of West Palm Beach, Florida from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a seventh round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.  Then the Eagles traded offensive tackle Darian Kinnard of Youngstown, Ohio to the Green Bay Packers for a sixth round pick in the 2027 National Football League Draft.

Johnson is actually returning to the Eagles. He played with Philadelphia for two seasons from 2023 to 2024, In that time, he had a fumble recovery and won a Super Bowl. Johnson was on the Eagles team that won the Super Bowl in February. The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, in a dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Then in the offseason, Johnson signed a one-year deal worth $1.3 million with the Jaguars on March 19 before the Sunday trade. So, Johnson never played for the Jaguars in a NFL regular season game. In addition to playing for Philadelphia, Johnson played three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2021, and one season in 2022 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kinnard, meanwhile has the distinction of winning the last three Super Bowls. In addition to being on the Eagles team that won in February, Kinnard was part of the Kansas City Chiefs team that beat the Eagles by a score of 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII, and then won the Super Bowl again in 2024 as the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Super Bowl LVIII. 

Only one other player in NFL history has won three straight Super Bowls according to Mike Spofford of packers.com. That is linebacker Ken Norton Jr. of Lincoln, Illinois. He was with the Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and 1994, and the San Francisco 49ers in 1995.
