Derrick Henry gets off to a fantastic start in 2021 NFL season
October 22, 2021
One of the biggest stories from the first third of the 2021 National Football League regular season has been the play of Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry of Yulee, Florida. Henry has not just been great, he has been spectacular, and has been the best running back in the entire NFL.
From a fantasy perspective, Henry is clearly number one at his position. His 154.1 fantasy pints, are 52.3 more fantasy points than the running back in second place, Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Henry currently leads the NFL in rushing yards (783), rushing touchdowns (10), rushing yards per game (130.5), total yards from scrimmage (921). He also has had 16 catches for 138 yards.

After a tough start to the season where he had only 58 yards in a 38-13 loss to the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals, Henry has been magnificent in his last five games. He has had three games with three touchdowns each (came in a 33-30 Titans win over the Seattle Seahawks, in a 37-19 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and in a 34-31 win over the Buffalo Bills).
In Henry’s last five games, he has averaged 144.8 yards per game. Henry’s season-high came in the Titans win over the Seahawks where he had 182 yards.
The Titans have a record of four wins and two losses, and lead the AFC South by two games over the Indianapolis Colts. The Titans have the luxury of playing in a weak division as the Colts, Jaguars and Houston Texans are a combined four wins and 14 losses.
Henry has been a Pro Bowl running back the last two years. Now he could be the league’s most valuable player in 2021.
