DeMar DeRozan scores 50 points for the Bulls

For the second time in his National Basketball Association career DeMar DeRozan of Compton, California has scored 50 points in a game. DeRozan reached the half-century mark in a 135-130 Bulls overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
DeRozan becomes the 13th player this season to score 50 points in a game. He is joined by Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, Saddiq Bay of the Detroit Pistons. Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers.
In the 53-minute game between the Bulls and Clippers on Thursday, DeRozan made 17 of 26 field goals, 14 of 15 free throws, and two three-pointers. He also had six assists, five rebounds and one steal.
On the season, DeRozan averaged 28 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 5.0 assists per game. He also has a field goal percentage of .505, three-point percentage of .358, and a free throw percentage of .874.
The previous time DeRozan scored 50 points in a game was on New Year’s Day, 2018. DeRozan scored 52 points in a 131-127 Toronto Raptors win over the Milwaukee Bucks. That game also went into overtime, and in the process DeRozan set a Raptors franchise record. Later during the 2018 calendar year, the Raptors traded DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard in the biggest trade in Raptors’ franchise history on July 18, 2018. In his only season in Toronto, Leonard guided the Raptors to a championship.
