CUMMINGS COMPARES BROADSIDING TO CHAMPION

IN the lead-up to the Caulfield Guineas, James Cummings has equated Broadsiding’s victory in the Golden Rose Stakes with Anamoe’s victory in that race in 2021.

Anamoe followed that victory with a win in the Caulfield Guineas and he was successful again in 2022 with Golden Mile.

“They had different preparations, but I would say there is not much between the performances of both horses in their Golden Roses,” Cummings said.

“The Golden Rose every year tends to look like the testing material for the Caulfield Guineas.I won’t be getting too carried away about that at the moment, but I feel like the Golden Rose is outstanding form.”

Anamoe drew barrier 13 when he won and Broadsiding has drawn barrier nine.

“A couple of years ago I was delighted to draw out with Anamoe and there have been plenty of Caulfield Guineas winners who have sat in the three-wide line, or kicking up in a wide line coming to the turn with the rail in the true position.”

“It looks like there is genuine pace on paper and it could work out just fine.”

“Broadsiding is in very good order, he’s come through the Golden Rose beautifully.”

“We are delighted with the progression that he’s made and the physical condition he’ll find himself in when he floats to the track at Caulfield for the Guineas.”

James McDonald will ride and he is aiming to get his 100th Group 1 winner.

Anamoe is $1.60 with PlayUp to win the Caulfield Guineas. The second favourite is another Sydneysider in Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s Mayfair who finished third in the Golden Rose Stakes.
