Cricket: Pakistan Spinner Yasir Shah Takes 10 Wickets To Embarrass New Zealand
November 27, 2018
Leg-spinner Yasir Shah put Pakistan in complete control of the second Test on Monday with an impressive 8-41 as New Zealand redeemed some respect ending the day on 2-131 in their second innings after being forced to follow-on in Dubai.
New Zealand looked to be cruising at 0-50 but the tourists were dismissed for only 90 runs in the first innings to give Pakistan a commanding lead of 328 on the third day. The Black Caps lost their 10 wickets within 40 runs in little over an hour of play, thanks to a mind-boggling collapse of 9-29 in seven overs.
Shah claimed both New Zealand wickets in the second innings to become the first Pakistani bowler to claim 10 wickets in a single day of a Test match.
Yasir’s figures, which came in only 12.3 overs, included a triple-wicket maiden.
His previous best were 7-76 against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2015.
New Zealand won a thrilling first Test by four runs after Pakistan lost their last seven wickets for 41 runs.
The final Test in Abu Dhabi starts on 3 December.
