To keep with our Wednesday theme of great three-point NBA shooting, it is now time to take a look at the miraculous three-point shooting Tuesday evening from the Milwaukee Bucks. On Tuesday, the Bucks set a NBA-record for most three-point shots made by a team in a regular season game in a 144-97 triumph over the Miami Heat according to the Associated Press.
In the 47-point Milwaukee win, the Bucks broke the record previously set by the Houston Rockets. On April 7, 2019, the Rockets made 27 three-point shots in a 149-113 win over the Phoenix Suns.
Fascinatingly, the only Bucks player on their 13-man roster who did not make a three-point shot, was their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Jrue Holiday led the Bucks with six three-points made. Donte DiVincenzo made five, Khris Middleton made four, and Brook Lopez made three. The other 11 three-points shots made came from Bucks off the bench. Bryn Forbes, D.J. Augustin, and Jordan Nwora each had two three-pointers. Meanwhile, Bobby Portis, Sam Merrill, D.J. Wilson, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and Pat Connaughton each had one three-pointer.
Bucks players took 51 three-point shot attempts throughout the 48 minutes of action. Middleton led the Bucks with 25 points overall.
The Bucks’ three-point shooting performance came two days after Stephen Curry became the third NBA player in history to record 2500 three-pointers in a career. The Warriors star point guard joins Ray Allen and Reggie Miller on this prestigious list.
Milwaukee got off to a slow start this season as they only won two of their first four games. The Bucks are in Miami again on Wednesday.
