Bucks deliver largest second half comeback in franchise history
November 28, 2023
So far we have documented two great NBA comebacks by the Toronto Raptors this season. On Sunday, there was a great comeback by the Milwaukee Bucks.
With two minutes and 51 seconds into the third quarter, the Bucks were trailing the Portland Trail Blazers 81-55. That is when the Bucks had a comeback for the ages. Milwaukee outscored Portland 52-21 over the last 21 minutes and nine seconds to beat the Trail Blazers 108-102. It was the largest second-half comeback in Bucks franchise history, and the 26-point comeback was  the largest comeback in a NBA game this season.
The Bucks star in the contest was Giannis Antetokounmpo of Athens. The Greek Freak had an impressive double-double with 33 points and 16 rebounds. Antetokounmpo was one of two Bucks players with 30 points. The other was point guard Damian Lillard of Oakland, California, who had 31 points. This game was significant for Lillard, because it was his first game against Portland since the blockbuster trade between the Bucks and Trail Blazers on September 27. Lillard had played 11 seasons with Portland from 2012 to 2023.
Three more Bucks had multi-point games. Shooting guard Malik Beasley of Atlanta, Georgia had 14 points. Power forward Bobby Portis of Little Rock, Arkansas had 12 points and center Brook Lopez of North Hollywood, California had 10 points.
With the win, the Bucks improve to a record of 12 wins and five losses for a winning percentage of .706. They are tied with the surprising Orlando Magic for second place in the Eastern Conference. Only the Boston Celtics at 13 wins and four losses are better.
