There will be a new PGA Tour Commissioner starting in 2027. According to pgatour.com, Brian Rolapp of Washington, District of Columbia, is taking over from Jay Monahan of Belnont, Massachusetts.
Rolapp becomes the fifth PGA Tour commissioner of all-time. The previous four were Joe Dey of Norfolk, Virginia (1969 to 1974), Deane Beman of Washington (1974 to 1994), Tim Finchem of Ottawa, Illinois (1994 to 2016), and Monahan (2017 to 2026).
Over the last year, Rolapp has been very involved with the PGA Tour. He was the chief executive officer of the PGA Tour since June 17, 2025.
The fact that Rolapp is the Commissioner of the PGA Tour is interesting. That is because he has a lot of experience working with the National Football League, and was even considered a predecessor for current NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Among Rolapp’s roles in the NFL have included being the director of finance and strategy of the NFL Network, and then the vice president of media strategy and digital media for the NFL, the senior vice president of media strategy and digital media for the NFL, the chief operating officer of NFL Media, the executive vice president of media for the NFL Network, the president and chief executive officer of the NFL Network and the chief media and business officer of the NFL from 2017 to 2025.
A Harvard Business School graduate, Rolapp enters the job as the PGA Tour’s top boss at a time when the PGA Tour’s top rival, the LIV Tour is in a time of instability. Meanwhile, the PGA Tour future is extremely bright.
