The Denver Nuggets have found a veteran player for the 2026-27 National Basketball Association regular season. On Friday, they signed power forward DeMar DeRozan of Compton, California to a one-year deal worth $3.9 million according to the Associated Press.
It is interesting that DeRozan will be making the veteran minimum wage this season. Yes, $3.9 million is the least amount of money the Nuggets could offer to DeRozan based on his 17 seasons of NBA experience.
DeRozan is joining his fifth team in the NBA. He previously played nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors from 2009 to 2018, three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs from 2018 to 2021, three seasons with the Chicago Bulls from 2021 to 2024, and the last two seasons with the Sacramento Kings from 2024 to 2026.
Six times in DeRozan’s career he has been a NBA All-Star. He was honoured with the Raptors in 2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18, and with the Bulls twice in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Known for his two point field goals, DeRozan led the NBA with 724 two-point field goals with the Bulls during the 2021-22 season. Throughout DeRozan’s career, he has taken a lot of two-point field goal attempts. Three times he has led the NBA in two point field goal attempts in a single season.
In 2025-26 with the Kings, DeRozan averaged 18.4 points per game, 4.1 assists per game, 2.9 rebounds per game and one steal per game. He had a field goal percentage of .497, three point percentage of .320 and a free throw percentage of .868.
