Randwick Race 6 – Anamoe
It was hard not to be impressed with Anamoe’s efforts in the Golden Slipper a fortnight ago. From barrier 15, Rachel King was forced to settle the back marker right at the tail of the field. Once he turned for home and balanced he produced the best last 600m sectional of the day, which is quite impressive for a 2yo.
The extra 200m looks perfect for this Godolphin 2yo and he won’t have to contend with barrier 15 today, instead barrier 5 in the much smaller field.
Tip: 3 Units win Anamoe @$2 With TopSport
Randwick Race 8 – Bivouac
Bivouac lines up in the TJ Smith Stakes looking to crown himself the nation’s best sprinter. To do that he is going to have to get passed the likes of Nature Strip and Eduardo.
He was luckless last start in the G1 Canterbury Stakes where he attempted to settle at the rear only to be stuck 3 wide. From here Glen Boss pressed forward only to find the horse under him over-racing. By the time he settled he had gone around majority of the field and was in 4th place. It was no surprise that we didn’t see his usual turn of foot when he grinded home for 4th place.
I expect him to settle much better off a hot speed today.
Tip: 2 Units Win Bivouac @$3.8 With TopSport
Randwick Race 9 – Icebath
As always the Doncaster is a wide-open affair with a stacked field of 20 runners. There are plenty of lightweight chances looking to challenge emerging star and race favourite Mugatoo.
Connections of Icebath would’ve been thrilled to gain a start after the scratching of Gem Song and she now gets in with only 50.5kg on her back.
The writing is on the wall after her run in the Emancipation last week where she was entitled to do a lot worse than she did with nothing in her favour. Despite the dry track along with the on-pace/fence bias in the track, Icebath was able to weave through runners and produce a strong finish on the worst part of the track for a gallant 4th.
The final thing this improving mare needs is for the track to stay on the worse side of a Soft 7. ***Note: If the track improves beyond this punter should steer clear.
Tip: 1 Units Each Way Icebath @$21/6 With TopSport
