Austin Eckroat wins 2024 World Wide Technology Championship

For the second time in 2024, and the second time in his PGA Tour career, Austin Eckroat of Edmond, Oklahoma is a PGA Tour champion. On Sunday, Eckroat won the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Eckroat posted a four round score of -24. He won a tournament where the scoring was extremely low. Americans Justin Lower and Carson Young of Anderson, South Carolina finished in a tie for second place at -23. Max Greyserman of Short Hills, New Jersey was alone in fourth place at -22.
Eckroat’s first round score was four-under-par 68. That was followed by a second round score of five-under-par 67, a third round score of six-under-par 66, and a fourth round score of nine-under-par 63.
Eckroat won the tournament despite having trouble on the third and 18th holes. During the four rounds, Eckroat actually bogeyed the third hole thrice (in rounds one, two and four). He also bogeyed the 18th hole twice (in rounds one and four), despite the hole being a par five.
Eckroat’s first PGA Tour career win came at the 2024 Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He had a winning score of -17, and beat Min Woo Lee of Perth, Australia and South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen by three strokes each.
This is the second straight PGA tournament in the fall swing that is taking place outside the United States. Starting Thursday, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship will be at the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. The defending champion is Camilo Villegas of Medellin. Colombia, who was at -24 last year.Â
