The Kansas City Chiefs have traded offensive tackle Wanya Morris of Savannah, Georgia to the Atlanta Falcons according to Marc Raimondi and Nate Taylor of ESPN on Thursday. In addition to Morris, the Falcons are receiving a seventh round pick in the 2027 National Football League draft. The Chiefs are receiving a sixth round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Morris has played 43 games with the Chiefs over the last three seasons. His most famous regular season moment came on September 15, 2024 in a 26-15 Chiefs win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Morris caught a touchdown pass for one yard from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes of Tyler, Texas. At the time, the Chiefs went up 17-16. Mahomes also made headlines this week as he signed a significant extension with Kansas City.
In his rookie season with the Chiefs, Morris won a Super Bowl. He was on the field for five special team snaps as the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.
Morris is 6’6″, 305 pounds. He played his college football at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tennessee. He was then drafted in the third round, 92nd overall by the Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The trade made by the Falcons is rather interesting when you consider the fact that the offensive line was one of Atlanta’s strengths in 2025. Atlanta only allowed 26 sacks, which was the third fewest sacks in the NFL. One area where Atlanta does need to improve on is rushing yards allowed. They gave up 126.2 yards allowed, the ninth most yards allowed in the NFL.
