The Kansas City are already paying quarterback Patrick Mahomes a ton of money. His current contract is for 10 years and worth $450 million. Now according to Julia Stumbaugh of Bleacher Report, the Chiefs are adding two more years to the contract. As part of the new deal, Mahomes will be earning $239.05 million over the 2032 and 2033 National Football League seasons. So, Mahomes’s total contract value is currently $522.25 million.
Mahomes is the NFL’s highest paid quarterback. According to the Associated Press, Mahomes is currently making $63.1 million per year and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is making $60 million per year.
Anyway you look at it, Mahomes has been the face of the Chiefs organization over the last decade. He is a six-time Pro Bowler, three-time Super Bowl MVP, and was the 2018 Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year.
Now the question in Kansas City will be if the Chiefs can continue to win and pay Mahomes an incredible amount of money. Kansas City has not won the Super Bowl over the last two years as the champions have been the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks.
This past season, Mahomes completed 315 passes in 502 attempts for 3587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also had 64 rushes for 422 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. However, Mahomes only won six of 14 games and suffered a serious left knee injury on December 14. It is interesting how Mahomes responds from the ailment. It appears Kansas City management is not too concerned.
