BALLARAT trainer Henry Dwyer has declared his flying mare Asfoora is in peak condition for tonight’s Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley.

“She’s had four weeks in between runs and she had a lovely gallop there on Monday. She’s going into the race in perfect condition,” Dwyer said on RSN.

Asfoora took her record to seven wins from 12 starts when she won the Group 3 The Heath first-up over 1100m at Caulfield on September 2.

She has had two attempts at Group 1 level with her best result a third in last year’s Oakleigh Plate.

Dwyer said Asfoora will use her speed and will be at her top pace from the outset.

“She will look the winner at some stage. She and Uncommon James will be up the front and it’s whether she can get the better of him and whether they can withstand the finish of Imperatriz,” Dwyer said.

Dwyer has kept his faith in low profile jockey Mitch Aitken who is chasing his first Group 1 win.

Champion New Zealand mare Imperatriz is $1.60 favourite with PlayUp and Asfoora is $7.
