Ascot Tip Sheet & Staking Plan – Wednesday 9th December
December 9, 2020

Well….what I’m going to call Black Saturday from now on is now behind us, thankfully. Midweek racing returns to Ascot for the first time in a fortnight with the rail at the 10m for the first time all season. With the wind expected, anticipating a very on-pace day with not a lot of interest for me from a betting perspective but I still feel some are over the odds of what they should be.
- Our WA Tipping Results: +7.78 Units (since 01/07/2020)
Race 1 – 2:04PM CROWN TOWERS HANDICAP (1500m)
Race 2 – 2:39PM JAMES SQUIRE MAIDEN (1000m)
Purple Pearl
Was pretty keen to play this 3yo early when she was opened and stayed at over $20 given she has some very handy 2yo form to her name. Was unlucky not to have finished less than a length off boom filly Chantorque at her 2nd start when knuckling at the start and being slow away, before getting back in the field and finishing off hard on an on-pace dominated day at Belmont in a race that included Dunbar, Chantorque, Born To Rule and First Law. This is pretty handy form for a race of this calibre and comes in here fresh off no trial which has me thinking Bradshaw is confident she can run a big race 1st up. Gets in here with absolutely no weight on her back, price is gone now but expecting a very good performance, just a tad concerned given the track pattern is likely to favour those up on pace quite heavily.
Race 3 – 3:15PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1400m)
2. Interstate – 3. Dani Bella – 1. Ginger Flyer – 4. Oxbridge
Interstate
Going to have a very small spec here on a horse that I think is well and truly overs in a market that has probably overreacted a tad to the trial, where he went to the line last of 9 over 6L off the winner. He trialled without the blinkers on there, and gets them back on here for this 1st up assignment which will definitely sharpen him up. His form from last prep is really solid I think for a race of this nature. He’s run his best races over the 1400m circuit, winning his maiden over the trip before running very promising mare Chantrea to within a length over the trip. That’s nice form for this, and given I think you will see $20+ late, I’m going to have something small on as he’s just way over what price he should be.
I think that Sheza Charmer form is going to hold up super, Dani Bella hardest to beat for mine.

Race 4 – 3:50PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1600m)
5. Western Rhythm – 2. Mood Goddess – 1. Shoes of Ekraar – 4. Man Of The Hour
Race 5 – 4:20PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200m)
Fair Justice
The last run was too good to ignore. Slowly away from the wide gate, Kyra made to snag her right back at the tail, didn’t get a clear crack at them until about a third of the way down the straight before rattling home into 3rd taking ground off very promising filly Sheza Charmer. Last prep should have beaten handy Saturday performer Tiff Has Spoken and was unlucky not to have finished much closer to a promising bunch that included Bright Diamond and Puckapunyal when stuck running up horse bum from straightening until passing the 150m. That form is well and truly good enough to stack up here especially off the back of the huge last start run, my only concern is given her tendency to be slow away, on a day that is anticipated to be advantageous to those on-pace, where she gets to in the run? Not a confirmed play, keen on-top but check back after we get a better gauge on how the track is playing, great each way bet.
Oceanzara not hopeless at $26.00 either if they can make ground. Just had no luck at her first 2 race starts before being crunched in betting at Pinjarra and just didn’t have her mind on the job on the day, running last. I liked the trial without the blinkers and think she is very capable of making her presence felt at a big price 1st up here.
Race 6 – 5:00PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS AND BANNERS HANDICAP (1800m)
Race 7 – 5:30PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1000m)
7. Shape Shifter – 3. Daishio – 4. Olga Louisa – 6. Leica Jaguar
