Ascot Tip Sheet & Staking Plan – Wednesday 18th November

Track looks to be in the soft 5 region, rail out 16m to keep the inside pad for Railway day untouched and give it some time to heal from the weekend. Will only be betting if I like what I see re. track conditions.

  • Our WA Tipping Results Results: +23.33 Units (since 01/07/2020)

Race 1 – 1:24PM BUDGET CAR & TRUCK RENTAL MAIDEN (1500m)
2. Forty Niner – 7. Special Picture – 11. Keeper Sweet – 1. Said No One Ever

Race 2 – 1:59PM ASCEND SALES TROPHIES HANDICAP (1400m)
8. Jedi Mind – 5. Town Hall – 1. No Surrender – 2. Mightiness

Jedi Mind

Early price has gone ($16 some corps somehow?) but pretty keen Jedi Mind is going to go really close here. On debut missed the kick by 2 and had to be mustered early to stay with them, settled 3 back the fence and stuck climbing all over the back of heels from straightening until about 100m left to go, from which he savaged the line late.  The trials before that were trials of a classy here, and think he will prove to be the best one this race. Maps to get a great run on the back of No Surrender (if he jumps with them this time around) and with the cutaway in play in the straight, if it isn’t quicksand, he’s going to mighty hard to beat.

Race 3 – 2:35PM THE TABTOUCH MASTERS HANDICAP (1200m)

4. Angelic Miss – 7. Mind Tricks – 3. Jakestar – 1. Indominus

Angelic Miss

3 really good runs so far at her 2nd race prep. Trounced them at Northam to break her maiden, before running a very eye-catching 2nd to very talented 3yo filly Solaia, storming home from last on the turn to finish within 2L of that runner, very strong form that has held up since. Last start jumped into Saturday 60+ grade and was far from disgraced, just got too far back and didn’t get much luck at the top of the straight when bumped around, still reeling off some slick late sectionals for 6th. This is a big drop in grade back to a CL1 and back to the 1200m with the amount of speed engaged here isn’t overly concerning. In-form senior Jock C.Parnham back on, hard to beat with luck in running.

Mind Tricks

Really good return run here on Cup day in a CL1. Settled 3 back the fence, tried to find some room at the top of the straight and just got none, only finding some air at the 150m and getting through the line really well. Plenty of speed engaged here, up to 1200m ticks a lot of boxes especially with the cutaway in play which generally gives every horse their chance, his maiden win at Pinjarra when 3 wide no cover the trip over 1200m said that he’s smart and will be winning some races considering how convincingly he put them away.

Jakestar must be considered if leaders-bias.

Race 4 – 3:10PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1200m)

8. Precautionary – 5. Scandolo – 6. Ellie’n’pink – 10. Bon Odyssea

Precautionary

If the cut-away is the place to be, just have to have something on Precautionary who brings by far the best form into the race. Last start in the Burgess Queen just had to do way too much work early trying to find a spot on a hot speed from barrier 13, so forgiving that. The start prior, finished 4th in a Saturday 60+ within a length of subsequent Saturday winner Point Taken and Indigo Blue, who finished in a photo 2nd in the Champion Fillies over the weekend. Draws beautifully in 1 with the cutaway here for Bobo, who with the claim gets in extremely well weighted at just the 55kgs.

Race 5 – 3:45PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1000m)

6. Advocator – 3. Dew West – 7. Cockyjoy – 2. Zenaze

Advocator

The only one well and truly over my price is Advocator. Has been far from disgraced at her last 2 starts in Saturday 60+ grade, firstly running less than a length off boom 3yo Chantorque when held up from the top of the straight till taken out off heels at the 200m, with 3 subsequent winners coming from this race (Chantorque, Chesten Flyer, Schoolhouse Rock). Last start had to be considered unlucky again, got the run of the race on the back of the leader but just couldn’t find any room on the turn, went for a run on the rail, was blocked and only once she got taken out off heels at the 200m did she get a proper crack at them, finishing off really well for 5th, with the top 3 horses from this race all running nice races since in better company. The map is the sticky component with the amount of speed on from barrier 9, but if the middle of the track is the place to be, she gets in so well at the weights back in grade here with the 54.5kgs with the claim for Bobo that I just can’t let her go around at this price if they can win down the centre of the track.

Race 6 – 4:25PM GORDON STEMP MEMORIAL HANDICAP (1600m)

9. Holyoake – 8. See Ya Champ – 1. Lord Lonsdale – 10. Zip Zam Zoom

Race 7 – 5:05PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (2200m)

9. Secret Pearl – 12. The Cat Ratcher – 4. Bollinger Boy – 5. Great Waters

Race 8 – 5:40PM KIRIN MEGUMI HANDICAP (1200m)
1. Aberdeen Queen – 2. Bruce Almighty – 9. Island Missile – 8. Bolshoi Gal
Aberdeen Queen

Just so looks so well placed in a CL5 with the claim against these. 1st up no trial but Lindsey always has his very fit before returning them to the races. Fair bit of speed here and should be able to find a lovely spot in the running from barrier 4 for the new WA apprentice Hefel, should know how the track is playing by this time of the day. Raced in much better company last prep, when defeating the very talented Levitate. Is better than these, will wait before pulling the trigger.
