Ascot Selections & Staking Plan: Saturday 3rd April

Back again after a nice Friday result with Big Screen and Media Baron for a bumper Karrakatta Plate Ascot card. The easterly is in play and it is forecast to be hot so early on in the piece it will definitely be advantageous to be sitting as close to the speed as possible, but they should be able to win from anywhere as is this season’s pattern as the day grows older.

Race 1 – 12:23PM TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM AUTUMN SERIES HEAT 1 (1000 METRES)

4. Requisition – 2. Dew West – 5. Round The Point – 1. Scooter’s Machine

Requisition

This horse is flying for Brett Pope at the minute and is in career best form. Less than 2L off very smart ones Miss Conteki and Amasenus at her last 2, with last start a particularly huge run when tramping deep and still coming again late at Amasenus in a fast race. Maps to be able to stalk from 3 here in a race with an abundance of speed and if the splits come for Brad she should be winning here, best bet of the day.

3.5 Units WIN

Race 2 – 12:59PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

5. Strathmore Rose – 2. Iseered Iseered – 1. Sassy Trader – 6. Giancana

Race 3 – 1:39PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

1. Billy Ain’t Silly – 7. Standout Rose – 6. Alpha And Omega – 2. Indigo Blue

Billy Ain’t Silly

Think Billy is going to be really hard to beat here. Should be 2/2 this prep and finally offloads Jerry Noske for Laqdar in a very likeable jockey change. The last start win at Pinjarra with the 60kgs rated super when never looking like losing and maps to get a very similar run here on-speed or just in behind Special View stalking. Keen.

2.75 Units WIN

Standout Rose

Having a saver here on a horse I have plenty of time for here in Standout Rose. Was a good thing licked down at Bunbury last start when finding a wall of horses from an inside draw, getting out late and going down in a photo to a horse that went and ran a cracking race yesterday. That 1st up win rated through the roof and was a run I struggle to get out of my head, she should position up 3 back the fence here needing luck but will get a very cushy run and if they fan on straightening and she finds a split, gee she will be hard to hold out.

1.25 Units WIN

Race 4 – 2:18PM AMELIA PARK LAMB HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

5. Denim Pack – 7. Glasgow Girl – 1. Cuballing – 3. Amelia’s Contraire

Denim Pack

This horse just goes for Laqdar, simply. 2 out of his 4 career wins have been with him in the saddle. May say 9 of 11 1st up on paper but the run was terrific, settled at the rear, was given none and really extended nicely late in very similar L600 splits to the very impressive Amasenus. Can get a much cushier run here from the draw stalking the speed and can run a very good each way race.

1 Unit EACH WAY

Race 5 – 2:54PM AMELIA PARK LODGE HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

6. Clairvoyance – 8. River Beau – 2. Ziebell – 5. Platinum Bullet

Clairvoyance

Just sit back and enjoy the show….she’s back!

Race 6 – 3:30PM AMELIA PARK BEEF HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

9. Pletto – 4. Tinsnip – 6. Bruce Almighty – 7. Cockyjoy

[adrotate group=”9″]

Race 7 – 4:05PM AMELIA PARK WINES HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

9. Kerman Rock – 1. Bonneville Black – 2. Big Bada Boom – 4. Mosseratti

Race 8 – 4:40PM AMELIA PARK-KARRAKATTA PLATE (1200 METRES)

10. Liwa – 15. Pat’s Got Sass – 2. He’s Gold – 4. Spin The Knife

Liwa

Not usually one for the juveniles but off his last run he is screaming out for the 1200m. Since it will be the charge of the light brigade for the top, if Carbery can slide her in that 3 deep with cover train (which there definitely will be), with the amount of speed engaged off her late splits last start in the Gimcrack over the 1100 when really flashing for 4th, he can be the one swamping them. Really nice price to find out.

0.5 Units EACH WAY

Race 9 – 5:15PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

3. Watch Me Dance – 6. Tycoon Storm – 2. Luke’s Gold – 5. Jericho Missile

Staking Plan

Race 3 Billy Ain’t Silly 2.75 Units WIN/Standout Rose 1.25 Units WIN

Race 4 Denim Pack 1 Unit EACH WAY

Race 8 Liwa 0.5 Units EACH WAY

10 Units Staked.
