Ascot Selections & Staking Plan: Saturday 30th October

Race 3 – 12:29PM TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM SERIES HEAT 2 (1200 METRES)

1. Standout Rose – 2. Mini Winnie – 6. Nowhiteflag – 8. Dais

Race 4 – 1:14PM GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

10. Fashion Queen – 7. Zero Demerits – 2. Ginger Flyer – 1. Lordhelpmerun

Race 5 – 1:54PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

9. God Has Chosen – 2. Beret – 1. On Red Alert – 7. Eurasia

God Has Chosen

Serious talent. Settled in another postcode fresh at Northam, in a CL3, was well-supported, was a horror watch in the straight, absolutely savaged the line. Should have won. Some monstrous late sections and now gets a far more suitable trip and the wizard in the saddle, who else would you want on? You know he’ll get back but trust Pike to try and find the right back to follow to take him into the race, wet track no drama. Think he’s a proper horse.

Race 6 – 2:34PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS AND BANNERS HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

1. Outback Jack – 10. Special Picture – 2. Secret Pearl – 5. Savanik

Outback Jack

1st up unsuited when drawn widest in a walk of a contest, pulling cars throughout. Got going well before straightening and thought he hit the line well considering the race shape. With that run under his belt, up to the much more suitable 1800m in a race where he can essentially roll to the top completely unopposed, he looks like he’s going to be mighty hard to get past. Is undefeated 2nd up. I think he’s the class.

Special Picture

Not losing on, who’s going super and maps for a super soft run.

0.5 Units WIN

Race 7 – 3:14PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Big Bada Boom – 9. Brave Angel – 8. Real Charisma – 1. Playing Marika

Big Bada Boom

Likely leader. 2nd up, did all the work fresh when out-toughing Big Screen with the top-weight from the wide alley in the breeze, really good win. Will have taken plenty out of it. Gets out to his pet trip here 2nd up and gets a map where he can find the fence here at what looks to be a fairly modest tempo. He’s just a winner, the figure from the 1st up win is one he can improve and looks like he’s going to be hard to run down if the fence is the place to be.

1 Unit WIN

Brave Angel

Huge run 1st up at the mile. Drew widest so Carbery content to just get right back, even speed, a mile back on straightening and once Carbery was able to extricate her off heels she absolutely savaged the line in some of the best late splits of the race from an impossible spot. Terrific prep run. Drawn 3 here, Carbery can take up a spot in a race without a great deal of tactical speed outside the 2 likely lead/breeze horses and should get the absolute run of the race. Great platform to run really well here.

1 Unit WIN

Race 8 – 3:52PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

7. Wilchino – 9. Triple Missile – 4. Graceful Girl – 6. Platinum Bullet

Race 9 – 4:30PM TABTOUCH – PRINCE OF WALES STAKES GROUP 3 (1000 METRES)

2. Elite Street – 5. Stageman – 1. Rock Magic – 4. Indian Pacific

Elite Street

Arrogant win in the Crawford to signal that he is seriously back. Not only that, he gets weight swings in his advantage on all of his rivals that he beat from that race at WFA. It looks the A1 set-up here for him to just camp off Mervyn and Indian Pacific to be cutting them down again. By far the hardest to beat, think he wins again. With some scratchings no spoils at $2.05, happy to get involved at $2.20+

4 Units WIN @$2.20+ SP

Race 10 – 5:07PM HOSEMASTERS – ASIAN BEAU STAKES GROUP 3 (1400 METRES)

5. Kissonallforcheeks – 8. Notorious One – 9. Western Empire – 6. Luke’s Gold

Kissonallforcheeks

In a race devoid of speed, CJP has the luxury of rolling forward from the gate here and putting her in a terrific spot in running, ideally not leading but just in behind whoever decides to kick up. This is the horse I want to be with. Ran a terrific figure last start defeating Luke’s Gold and Kaptain Kaos (quinella of the Northam Cup) convincingly, gets down 2.5kgs in the weights, has by far the most upside I think in this field (bar maybe Notorious One) and on the minimum up on what looks to be a really moderate speed, I struggle to see which of these is going to run past her on the road to the Railway Stakes.

3 Units WIN

Notorious One

Seriously talented, but still does a lot wrong and I don’t think you can afford to do that in a race of this nature. Little 7 week freshen won’t hurt a horse like him, but he has a bad tendency of missing the step, which means he could likely end up near enough to last in a race where if theres no speed injected, probably leaves him with too much work to do. His sheer ability is why I want to have something on, how he hit the line late behind Tellem We’re Comin last start on a huge on-pace day had to be seen to be believed. If he ever puts it all together, could be a genuine superstar.

1 Unit WIN

Race 11 – 5:45PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

7. Temptacion – 3. Son Of Bacchus – 2. Midnight Blue – 4. Roman Flirt

Temptacion

Think this race profiles the best for her all prep. Last start hit the line terrific from an impossible position and now gets out to a suitable trip and drops down in the weights. Drawn 11, Parnham will be looking for the back of a horse to take her into the race (ideally Son Of Bacchus) and if he can get a cart in and they can make ground down the middle by this stage of the day, keen she can make her presence felt.
