2024 Pittsburgh Steelers Projected Finish, Key Signings and Fantasy Stars

In the 27th of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Key Off Season Acquisitions

The most notable acquisitions for the Steelers in the offseason was at quarterback. They did not just bring in one, but two. In are Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Wilson signed a one-year deal worth $1.21 million to be the starting quarterback for the present, while Fields came to the Steelers to be the quarterback of the future.

Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio, is joining his third NFL franchise after time with the Seattle Seahawks and two seasons with the Denver Broncos. With the Seahawks, Wilson was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times, won the Super Bowl in 2014, and led the NFL in touchdown passes with 34 in 2017. This past season in Denver, Wilson completed 297 passes in 447 attempts for 3070 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also had 80 rushes for 341 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Fields of Kennesaw, Georgia was traded to the Steelers from the Chicago Bears for a 2025 draft pick. In 2023, Fields completed 227 passes in 370 attempts for 2562 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also had 124 rushes for 657 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.

The other key free agent signing is inside linebacker Patrick Queen of Ventress, Louisiana. He signed a three-year deal worth $41 million after spending the last four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2023, Queen had 133 tackles (84 solo tackles and 49 assisted tackles), nine tackles for a loss, six quarterback hits, one interception for 21 yards, six pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 3.5 sacks. The forced fumble came in a 20-10 Ravens win over the Los Angeles Chargers on November 26, the fumble recovery came in a 23-17 Ravens win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 17, and interception for 21 yards came in a 33-19 Ravens win over the San Francisco 49ers on December 25.

The Steelers also acquired Donte Jackson of New Orleans, Louisiana in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. Jackson played six seasons in Carolina. He has 59 combined tackles (49 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles), five tackles for a loss, and one forced fumble. The forced fumble came in a 15-13 Panthers win over the Houston Texans on October 29. Dionte Johnson, a wide receiver went to Carolina. Pittsburgh also got a sixth round pick in 2024, while Carolina got a seventh round pick in 2024.

Fantasy Star

The Steelers have the seventh best defense in fantasy. They got a little better with the acquisitions of Queen and Jackson. Pittsburgh has been known historically for their defense, and that will be their identity again in 2024.

Projected Finish

The Steelers are in a tough AFC North. When it comes to the team as a whole, they got more different offensively than better. I am picking a basement finish at the end of the season.
