September 1, 2023

In the 26th of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the Philadelphia Eagles.
Key Off Season Acquisitions
In free agency, the Eagles came to terms with quarterback Marcus Mariota of Honolulu, Hawaii. He signed a one-year deal worth $5 million to backup Jalen Hurts. Last season with the Atlanta Falcons, Mariota completed 184 passes in 300 attempts for 2219 passing yards, 15 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. Mariota also had 85 rushes for 438 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
The Eagles also acquired two players via a trade. On April 29, they picked up running back D’Andre Swift of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a seventh round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from the Detroit Lions for a fourth round draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a seventh round pick in 2023. Then on Tuesday, they acquired tight end Albert Okwuegbunam of Springfield, Illinois from the Denver Broncos with a seventh round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft  for a sixth round draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Stars
Quarterback Jalen Hurts of Houston, Texas is fourth in fantasy. In 2022, he completed 306 passes in 460 attempts for 3701 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. Hurts, who was a Pro Bowler for the first time, had 165 rushes for 760 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.
Two Eagles wide receivers are ranked in the top 10. A.J. Brown of Starkville, Mississippi is fourth and DeVonta Smith of Amite City, Louisiana is tenth. Brown had 88 catches for 1496 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches in 2022, while Smith had 95 catched for 1196 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches in 2022.
Dallas Goedert of Britton, South Dakota is ninth among tight ends. Last season he had 55 catches for 702 receiving yards and three touchdown catches.
The Eagles defense are ranked fifth in fantasy. Last season they gave up 344 points, the fourth fewest points in the NFC. The only teams that gave up fewer points than the Eagles in the conference were San Francisco (277), Dallas (342), and Washington (343).
Projected Finish
The Eagles went to the Super Bowl last year but lost 38-35 to Kansas City. Philadelphia should carry their momentum from last season into this season. A Super Bowl berth once again could definitely happen. The Eagles should be favoured to win the NFC East.
