Want to lock in a unit in the York Cup today on a veteran horse that is evidently to me, flying. The 10 year old who has gone around 89 times prior to today, I don’t think he’s found as good a form as he is in currently in some time. 2 starts back it took until the last 50m of the race for main Perth Cup hope Truly Great to run him down over the mile before last time out in the Northam Cup he went massive, drew widest, was taken back to the tail on a day where it was well documented that you couldn’t win unless you were at worst on the back of the leaders in running. Came down the wrong part of the track and really took ground off the leaders late despite the losing margin. The rise in distance here will only suit him and if C.Parnham can slot him in a bit closer midfield with cover this time around, I think he is a great bet at $7.50. Admit Mackenzie Brooke is very hard to beat and may be worth a saver but at the price differential, I’m keen here on the big, old grey.
