Wizards point guard Bub Carrington closes out the regular season with a buzzer beater
April 16, 2025

It is no doubt it has been a very tough season for the Washington Wizards. With a record of 18 wins and 64 losses, they had the worst record in the Eastern Conference, and second worst record in the entire National Basketball Association. The only team that was worse were the Utah Jazz at 17 wins and 65 losses.
However, the Wizards were able to end the season on a high note thanks to a clutch shot by point guard Bub Carrington of Baltimore, Maryland. Carrington made a two foot buzzer beater as time expired in a 119-118 Wizards win over the Miami Heat on Sunday at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Carrington finished the game with 15 points. As mentioned, it has been a tough season for the Wizards. However, they have delivered impressive upset wins over the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Sacramento Kings, with Carrington being instrumental in all three contests.
This was the 17th buzzer beater in the NBA this season, and the first buzzer beater by a Wizards player in over two years. Center Daniel Gafford of El Dorado, Arkansas accomplished the feat in a 119-117 Wizards win over the Detroit Pistons on March 7, 2023.
This game did not have much meaning as Miami did not dress regulars Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins. The Heat play the Chicago Bulls in the 9-10 play-in game of the NBA play-in tournament on Wednesday night. The winner of the game between the Heat and Bulls, play the loser of the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic for the eighth spot in the East.
