Weekend Wrap: The Biggest Moments In This Weekend’s Sport

In this segment, we bring you a look at the biggest sporting moments of the past weekend.

This weekend saw knockout matches, multiple upsets and come from behind wins.

FA Cup

Everyone likes an upset, and the FA Cup provided a couple of them over the weekend.

Struggling Premier League side Fulham lost 2-1 to League Two side Oldham.

Similarly, Leicester embarrassingly lost 2-1 to Newport County.

Meanwhile, some Premier League teams actually showed their class and bagged a heap of goals.

Tottenham and Manchester City both recorded dominant 7-0 wins in their respective matches against Tranmere and Rotherham.

Jordan Upset Aussies

It’s a rough time to be an Australian when it comes to sports at the moment.

We are getting thrashed in cricket, we aren’t too crash hot in rugby, and now we’re getting beaten by the 109th ranked team in the world in soccer/football.

Despite obviously barracking for the Socceroos to win in their Asian Cup game, it’s a great moment in sports for Jordan to get the historic win.

Like I said, everyone likes an upset.

The defending champions said they expected to win in their opening match of the tournament, but never found a way back after Jordan’s Anas Bani-Yaseen first-half header.

NFL Wild Card Round

Wild Card round provided the goods this weekend, giving sports fans many big moments.

The Colts knocked out the Texans, while the Cowboys edged past the Seahawks in a 24-22 win.

Though, a horrific leg injury to Cowboys’ receiver Allen Hurns during the match, caught the attention of many.

The Chargers overcame the Ravens, 23-17.

While an astonishingly unlucky kick resulted in the Eagles sneaking past the Bears 16-15.

The kick in the dying seconds of the game, bounced off the left upright, before hitting the crossbar and bouncing back into the field.

Perth Comeback

Perth Glory recorded an impressive win in the A-League over the weekend.

Down 2-0 to the Brisbane Roar at halftime, Glory looked likely to lose their top spot in the league.

A loss would’ve put them on the same points as Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, and depending on the goal difference, Glory could’ve dropped back to third place.

After the break, Perth drew one back when Daniel Bowles gave away a penalty and received a red card.

They then scored an astonishing three goals in the last 10 minutes to record a famous 4-2 come-from-behind win.
