Warwick Farm Best Selection & Value Play 16/4

Midweek Sydney racing returns to Warwick Farm today. Our analyst has selected a Waterhouse/Bott filly that looks set to be an improver getting to firmer ground and a Pride 5yo that should be suited by a hot tempo as the value play.

Best Selection: R6- Love and Light

Love and Light is racing well and comes to the midweeks after a dominant 4.9L at Newcastle’s Beaumont track. It’s important to note that this was a country and not a provincial meeting but still impressive. The 2nd horse has since come out and won well.

Where I think she brings the most upside is the fact she will be getting back on a firmer track compared to the Heavy 8 she won well on 1st up and the 2 Heavy tracks she raced on at the backend of last prep. She did fail at her only start on a Good track but that was on a hot summer day and she was found to pull up with heat stress. Being a Capitalist filly and having won a recent Randwick trial by 3.5L on a Good 4, we can be confident a firmer surface will suit her jump and run style.

Value Selection: R5- Little Cointreau

Little Cointreau resumes with a great 4: 2-0-1 1st up record. He showed he was too good for midweek company in 2 starts at Canterbury and Kensington last campaign. His Canterbury win was full of merit having settled off midfield and winning down the outside, which you don’t see too often at that track. The hot tempo and race shape looks a tick for him running on late and looked to be going as well as ever at the trials.
