Vikings trade Yannick Ngakoue to Ravens
October 24, 2020
The Minnesota Vikings have traded defensive end Yannick Ngakoue of Washington, District of Columbia to the Baltimore Ravens according to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Thursday. In return, the Vikings receive a third round draft pick in the 2021 National Football League Draft and a fifth round draft pick in the 2022 National Football League Draft.
The Ravens become Ngakoue’s third NFL team. In addition to six games this season with the Vikings, he played our seasons from 2016 to 2019 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In six games this season, Ngakoue has two forced fumbles, five sacks, 12 combined tackles (all solo tackles), seven quarterback hits, and five tackles for a loss. In 69 career NFL games, Ngakoue has 134 combined tackles (117 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles), 92 quarterback hits, 47 tackles for a loss, 42.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, nine pass deflections, three fumble recoveries or 65 yards, two interceptions for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
On October 20, 2019, Ngakoue had the first pick six of his career in a 27-17 Jaguars win over the Cincinnati Bengals. At the time Ngakoue put the Jaguars up 24-10 as the interception came off of Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. Like Ngakoue, Dalton has switched teams, as he is now the number one quarterback for the struggling Dallas Cowboys.
Ngakoue’s finest season came in 2017 when he was selected to the Pro Bowl. In 16 games, Ngakoue had 30 combined tackles (24 solo tackles and six assisted tackles), 23 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, a NFL-leading six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries for 67 yards and a touchdown.

In acquiring Ngakoue, the Ravens are expected to move him from defensive end to linebacker. However, Ngakoue could return to defensive end if Derek Wolfe continues to have problems with his neck.
