Tyrese Maxey records a career high 54 points

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey of Dallas, Texas recorded 50 points in a game for the fourth time in his National Basketball Association career on Thursday. He accomplished the feat by scoring 54 points  in a 123-114 76ers overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Maxey made 18 of 30 field goals, six of 15 three-pointers, and 12 of 14 free throws. He added nine assists, five rebounds, three steals, three blocks and was a +18.
In all, there were four 76ers that reached double digits in points. Paul George of Palmdale, California had 21 points, shooting guard Quentin Grimes of Houston, Texas had 14 points off the bench, and rookie shooting guard VJ Edgecombe of Bimini, Bahamas had a double-double as he had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Maxey’s  54 points are the third most points a player has had in a single game this season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario had 55 points for the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 23 in a 141-135 Thunder win over the Indiana Pacers. Nikola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia had 55 points in a 130-116 Denver Nuggets win over the Los Angeles Clippers on November 12.
Maxey had 50 points in a game on November 12, 2023 in a 137-126 76ers win over the Indiana Pacers. He then had 51 points in a 127-124 76ers win over the Utah Jazz on February 1, 2024, Â and then had 52 points in a 133-126 76ers win over the San Antonio Spurs on April 7, 2024,
This season, Maxey is averaging 33,4 points per game, 7.9 assists per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, and 1.6 steals per game. He leads the NBA with 23.4 field goal attempts per game, and has a field goal percentage of .473, three point percentage of .421, and a free throw percentage of .878.
With the win, the 76ers improved to a record of nine wins and six losses. They are in third place in the Atlantic Division, and fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
