Tyrese Maxey leads 76ers to 2-0 series lead over the Nets

What we learned on Monday is that the Philadelphia 76ers is not just all about Joel Embiid and James Harden. It is extremely obvious that guard Tyrese Maxey deserves praise for his play too.
In game two of the best out of seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals on Monday, Maxey of Dallas, Texas had 33 points in a 96-84 Philadelphia win over the Brooklyn Nets. With the win, the 76ers took a two games to none series lead. In addition to the 33 points, Maxey had three rebounds, one blocked shot, and was a +17. He also made 13 of 23 field goals, six of 13 three-pointers, and made one of three free-throw attempts.
According to ESPN, Maxey and guard Allen Iverson of Hampton, Virginia are the only 76ers players to have a 30-point game and a five three-point game in the postseason, and they have accomplished it twice. Maxey also had 38 points and five three-pointers in a 131-111 76ers win over the Toronto Raptors in game one of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on April 16, 2022.

Iverson’s first 30-point, five three-point game also came against the Raptors. He had 52 points and made eight three-pointers on May 16, 2001 in game five of the Eastern Conference semifinals, a 121-88 Philadelphia win over Toronto. Iverson also had 46 points and five three-pointers in a 110-100 76ers loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on June 1, 2001 in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Also on Monday, two 76ers recorded a double-double. Center Joel Embiid of Yaounde, Cameroon had 20 points, and 19 rebounds, and forward Tobias Harris of Islip, New York had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Brooklyn did a better job in containing Harden in game two (only eight points compared to 23 points in game one), but it was not enough.
