Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 7/11
November 9, 2025
It was the Bjorn Baker show at the Rosehill trials on Thursday morning with the Warwick Farm based trainer winning 6 of the 14 trials. Our analyst has black booked a pair of his runners, a sharp Snowden 3yo and an emerging Waller star that looks on track for the G1 CF Orr Stakes.
Quietly Arrogant
The name matched the trial with the Snowden gelding settling 2nd behind his stablemate and striding up under minimal riding to claim a 0.4L win with a 10L gap back to 3rd. The quality of those further back was negligible but the Sapphire Coast Nugget winner looks to have come back in great order.
Pyrolysis
The 2 start Baker filly is definitely one to look out for in maiden company after her dominant 3.1L victory in the fastest 1030m trial of the morning. She settled 2nd behind a fast leader and ambled up to him quickly at the top of the straight and bounded away for an impressive win. He was 2nd to subsequent Saturday winner Tomato Toastie in his last run of his previous prep and looks to of come on nicely.Â

Angel Capital
The G1 CF Orr favourite looks to be in good order after a quiet 0.7L 3rd to Monte Kate in the 6th trial of the morning. He was trucking along beautifully before looking uncomfortable with taking a tight run at the 200m mark and then motoring through the line under a tight hold. The hesitation to take the tight run has to be something to consider going towards the tight Caulfield track but he looks to be going well regardless.
Big Papa
The Baker 3yo certainly caught the eye with his 5.9L 900m trial win. He was only fairly away but charged straight to the front and had opened up a 3L lead on straightening before powering away for a dominant win. You could argue the horses behind him weren’t asked to do much but the 53.78s time was still the fastest of the morning. I love the set up for him having been sent to Bathurst for a debut win where he was quite green before being put away for a spell. It’s a formula we’ve seen the stable use well before their runners catapult through the grades. Hopefully we see him at the midweeks soon.Â
