Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 2/1
January 2, 2026
The replays have been reviewed from this week’s Sydney trials and Randwick and Rosehill. Check out all the runners that have made their way into the black book.
Rhythm of Love
The G3 Fred Best runner up looks to have returned in great order after his 2.4L trial win over 1200m at Randwick on Tuesday morning. He sat outside the leader and quickly put pay to them under hands and heels riding from Dylan Gibbons.Â

Bosustow
The Archibald entire looks to be in great order after a short freshen-up from the spring where he was 5th behind Jimmysstar in the G1 Orr. He settled behind the lead pair and wasn’t asked to do much at all holding ground behind horses under a lot more pressure before given a shake up the final 100m where he worked to the line nicely to finish 0.1L 2nd to Mayfair. Wherever he lands the prep will be easier than races like the Bill Ritchie, Alan Brown and Orr that he contested in the spring.

Roselyn’s Star
There was a lot to like about the O’Shea & Charlton gelding’s stylish 2.4L trial win at Randwick. He settled 3rd behind a tearaway leader before cruising up to him in the straight and really extending to go past him. The hot tempo and strong finish saw him run a massive 1.06s quicker than the next fastest 1050m trial on the morning. He was a victim of some bad luck and bad gates in the early spring before winning over the Rosehill 1100m to close out his prep. He looks ready to hit the ground running after a short break.
Zoufame
The Baker 3yo looks to have returned in great order after his all the way 5.5L Rosehill trial win without being fully extended. He was a narrow runner up in his only career start at Bathurst back in August and looks ready to break his maiden comparing previous trials to Friday’s improved performance.Â
