Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 16/9

Keeping an eye on the Sydney trials is always a must when the spring carnival is heating up. Our analyst has run his eye over the 13 Randwick trials on Tuesday morning and has found a trio of spring contenders that look to be ticking along nicely.

Fawkner Park

The consistent Archibald stayer has never been one to catch the eye at the trials but his 2.4L 2nd over 1200m indicates that he is going as well as ever. He settled back in the field and found the line really strongly. He is not typically one to be looking to bet 1st up but it’s worth noting that he was 1.5L 4th to Via Sistina in G1 company over a mile in the autumn. If he is placed away from the G1 WFA stars fresh this prep he would be worth consideration.

Roselyn’s Star

It was a really slick tick-over trial from the O’Shea & Charlton 4yo. He settled outside the lead and made a decent field looks quite average recording a 1.1L win under a strong hold. He ran the quickest 1050m time of the morning, 0.01s quicker than the highly rated Beadman. I’d love to be with him in a BM72 Rosehill 1100m race where he had excuses caught off the track 1st up and then raced a touch flat 2nd up after a 70-week spell.

The Freedman sprinter looks well placed to add to the list of Godolphin runners to record a win for their new stables. He really trucked to the line under a strong hold from J Mac with Overpass and Jealously 0.5L ahead at the post. He has 2 Rosehill 1100m BM72 2nds to his name this prep but looks to be flying.
