Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 13/1
February 13, 2026
Rosehill hosted a number of autumn contenders for trials this week. Check out all the runner that have entered the black book for future reference, including a pair of impressive 3yos that look set to add to a huge depth of sprinter-milers in that age bracket over the carnival.
Ninja
The Freedman 3yo returned from a short break after his unlucky Gold Coast Magic Millions 2nd with a really eye-catching 1000m Rosheill trial win. He settled 3rd behind the speedy Way To The Stars and when Berry pushed the button at the 250m he motored him down to win by 0.1L and put a 2.6L gap on Pericles. He ran 2.1s quicker than the only other 1000m Course Proper trial on the morning. He is going to be one to keep an eye on in all 3yo races as he likely makes his way towards the Randwick Guineas.Â

King of Roseau
The Snowden 4yo looks to be racing as well as ever returning from a prep which concluded with him winning the Magic Millions Cup on the Gold Coast. His Rosehill 1000m trial return was a beauty settling midfield and cruising up to G2 Ingham winner Yorkshire halfway up the straight under no pressure and going right to the line with him to finish 0.04L 2nd. It’s also worth noting that with Lloyd in the saddle Yorkshire would’ve been carrying considerably less weight. There is a nice race in him over the autumn.Â

Raging Force
A super slick 3.5L 900m trial win for the G3 San Domenico winner. He went straight to the front a went on with it breaking 34s for the final 600m. The 3yo sprinter-miler stocks are as loaded as we’ve seen in many years. What I learned from this guy last prep was that he struggled to finish off a strong 1200m. I’d be happy to be with him against some of the higher rated 3yos over 1000m-1100m otherwise I’d like to see some evidence of some strengthening before betting over 1200m.
