There was an intriguing trade in the National Basketball Association on Wednesday prior to the 2024 NBA Draft. The Portland Trail Blazers traded point guard Malcolm Brogdon of Atlanta, Georgia and four draft picks to the Washington Wizards for small forward Deni Avdija of Beit Zera, Israel according to nba.com. The Wizards are receiving the Trail Blazers’s first overall picks in 2024, 2028, 2029, and 2030. With the 2024 NBA Draft first round draft pick, the Wizards selected shooting guard Carlton Carrington of Baltimore, Maryland out of the University of Pittsburgh.

Brogdon is joining his fifth NBA franchise. He previously spent three seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks from 2016 to 2019, three seasons with the Indiana Pacers from 2019 to 2022, and one season each with the Boston Celtics (2022-23), and Trail Blazers (2023-24). He averaged 10.2 points per game, 4.2 assists per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, and 1.1 steals per game. Brogdon also had a field goal percentage of .457, three point percentage of .404, and a free throw percentage of .865. Then in 2022-23 with the Celtics, he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. Brogdon is also known for his strong free throw shooting. He had a free throw percentage of .928 in 2018-19 with the Bucks which led the NBA.

Avdija played 75 games last year for the Wizards. It was his fourth season in Washington. He averaged 14.7 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per game, along with a field goal percentage of .506, three-point percentage of .374, and a free throw percentage of .740.
