Top five storylines from Week 2 of the NFL season
September 21, 2022

Well folks. It has been a fantasy football nightmare for me so far. I am dead last in all three of my fantasy pools and have been knocked out in my two survivor pools. Enough about me. Let’s take a look back at week two’s top storylines.
5) Colts and Titans have been awful.
The two teams that were supposed to carry the AFC South were downright horrendous in week two. Indianapolis was blanked 24-0 by the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Titans were smoked 41-7 by the Buffalo Bills in a Monday night prime time beatdown. The Colts have now been blanked by Jacksonville three times in the last five years.

After only winning four games all season in 2021, the New York Giants are 2-0 to begin the 2022 NFL regular season. After stunning the Titans 21-20 in week one, they beat the Carolina Panthers 19-16 in week two. On Sunday it was a phenomenal day for Giants kicker Graham Gano, who spent seven seasons with Carolina before joining the Giants in 2020. He had four field goals from 36 yards, 33 yards, 51 yards and 56 yards. The 56-yard field goal put the Giants up 19-16 with three minutes and 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions has now had a touchdown in six straight games. According to ESPN, this is the longest streak by a Lions receiver since Herman Moore, who had a touchdown in six straight games in 1994. On Sunday in a 36-27 Lions win over the Washington Commanders, St. Brown of Anaheim Hills, California, had nine catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

2) Remarkable Jets comeback.
We already discussed the great performances by two New York Jets rookies on Sunday (wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall). What we have not discussed was the great Jets comeback on Sunday. The Jets were down 30-17 with just under two minutes left when Jets quarterback Joe Flacco threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Corey Davis, Jets wide receiver Justin Hardee recovered the onside kick, and Flacco then threw the game-winning touchdown to Wilson for 15 yards to give New York the improbable 31-30 win.
1) Tua magnificent against the Ravens.
In an amazing offensive performance, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the best lefthanded quarterback in the game today, threw for six touchdown passes on Sunday. He completed 36 of 50 passes for 469 yards as the Dolphins beat the Baltimore Ravens 42-38. Tagovailoa became the third Dolphins quarterback to have six touchdowns in a game, as he joined Bob Griese and Dan Marino.
