November 13, 2024
The National Football League is 10 weeks complete. Here are the top five rookies from week 10 on winning teams. This year we are including kickers.
5) Marvin Harrison Jr.
The native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was the Arizona Cardinals’ first round pick, fourth overall, in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. On Sunday, Harrison Jr. had five catches for 54 receiving yards and one touchdown as the Arizona Cardinals beat the New York Jets 31-6. His touchdown was nine yards from Kyler Murray and put the Cardinals up 21-6 with five minutes and 44 seconds left in the first half.
4) Ricky Pearsall
The native of Phoenix, Arizona made headlines in August when he was shot in San Francisco during a robbery attempt on the street. On Sunday, in his third NFL game since the incident, Pearsall had four catches for 73 receiving yards, and his first NFL touchdown in a 23-20 San Francisco 49ers win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pearsall opened the scoring with a 46 yard touchdown catch from Brock Purdy. He was the 49ers first round pick, 31st overall, out of Florida.
3) Drake Maye
The New England Patriots won their third game of the season, as they upset the Chicago Bears 19-3. The Patriots were led by rookie quarterback Drake Maye of Huntersville, North Carolina. The third overall pick out of the University of North Carolina completed 15 of 25 passes for 184 passing yards and one touchdown, along with four rushes for 24 rushing yards. Maye’s touchdown pass was two yards to the Patriots’s second round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft–Ja’Lynn Polk of Lufkin, Texas.
2) Jake Bates
The Detroit Lions rookie from Tomball, Texas made Lions history on Sunday night in Houston when he made the longest field goal ever by a Lions kicker. The 58 yarder tied the game at 23 with five minutes and one second left in the fourth quarter. Bates then won the game with a game-winning 52 yard field goal as time expired to give Detroit a 26-23 win.
1) John Parker Romo
Romo is the second Vikings kicker to make our top five weekly rookie list this season, as Will Reichard of Hoover, Alabama was fifth in week two, fourth in week three, and fourth in week five. However, Reichard was never where the new Vikings kicker was in week 10, and that was number one. With Reichard out with an oblique injury, the Vikings signed Romo of Peachtree City, Georgia on November 10, and sizzled. He made field goals of 45 yards, 33 yards, 34 yards, and 29 yards to record all of Minnesota’s points in a 12-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
