We are now 17 weeks into the National Football League season. Here are the top five headlines from the week that was.Â
5) Trey McBride sets NFL record for most catches in a season by a tight end.
McBride of Greeley, Colorado now has 119 catches on the season, which also leads the NFL in 2025. He accomplished the feat in a 37-14 Cardinals loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Zach Ertz of Orange, California had the previous record as he had 116 catches with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018.
4) Bijan Robinson sets two Falcons franchise records.
Falcons running back Bijan Robinson of Tucson, Arizona set two Falcons franchise records on Monday night in a 27-24 win over the Los Angeles Rams. They were the longest rushing touchdown in a game (93 yards), and most yards from scrimmage in a season (2255).
3) Ravens and Steelers still battling for a playoff spot.
With Baltimore defeating the Green Bay Packers 41-24 on Saturday and the Cleveland Browns upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-6 on Sunday, the AFC North is up for grabs. Pittsburgh will play Baltimore for the final playoff spot in the postseason, and first place in the AFC North on the line.
2) Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans make the postseason.
The Packers and Texans clinched playoff spots in Week 17. Green Bay clinched after Minnesota beat Detroit 23-10 on Christmas Day. Houston clinched after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 20-16 on Saturday.
1) Buccaneers still have a chance to make the postseason despite being ice cold lately.
Nothing has gone right for the Buccaneers lately. They have lost seven of their last eight games after being beaten 20-17 by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. However, the Buccaneers still have a chance of making the postseason at eight wins and nine losses. They win the NFC South with a win over the Carolina Panthers and a New Orleans Saints win over the Atlanta Falcons.
