Top five headlines from Week 12 of 2025 NFL season

We are now 12 weeks into the National Football League season. Here are the top five headlines from the week that was. 

5) Giants and Lions play to a shootout.

If you like offense, there was simply a lot of it on Sunday at Detroit’s Ford Field. The teams had 1011 total yards, with the New York Giants having 517 total yards (395 passing yards and 122 rushing yards), and the Detroit Lions having 494 total yards (257 passing yards and 234 rushing yards). The Lions won 34-27 thanks to a 69 yard touchdown run in overtime by running back Jahmyr Gibbs of Dalton, Georgia.

4) Bounce back performance by Sam Darnold.

It was a dreadful performance a week ago by Sam Darnold. He threw four interceptions in a 21-19 Seahawks loss to the Los Angeles Rams. On Sunday, Darnold was exceptional. He had 244 yards passing, two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 118.1 in a 30-24 Seattle win over the Tennessee Titans.

3) Ravens red hot.

The Baltimore Ravens have won five straight games and have gone from worst to first in the AFC North in just over a month. On Sunday, the Ravens beat the new York Jets 23-10 thanks to two rushing touchdowns by running back Derrick Henry of Yulee, Florida.

2) Great comeback by Cowboys.

Dallas was once down 21-0 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday before winning 24-21. The Cowboys got a game-winning 42-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey of St. Louis, Missouri on the final play of regulation to complete the monumental comeback.

1) Raiders fire Chip Kelly

The Raiders offensive line was terrible on Sunday. Raiders quarterback Geno Smith was sacked 10 times in a 24-10 Las Vegas loss to the Cleveland Browns. As a result, Vegas fired offensive co-ordinator Chip Kelly.
