Titans name Mike Borgonzi new general manager
January 18, 2025

According to Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports on Friday, the Tennessee Titans have hired Mike Borgonzi of Everett, Massachusetts as their new general manager. Borgonzi replaces Ran Carthon, who was fired on January 7.Â
Borgonzi comes to the Titans after having great success with the Kansas City Chiefs in multiple roles. Over the last 16 years in Kansas City, he has been the Chiefs administrator of college scouting (2009), the Chiefs manager of football operations (2010), the Chiefs professional scout (2011 and 2012), the Chiefs assistant director of professional scouting (2013 and 2014), the Chiefs director of player personnel (2015 to 2017), the Chiefs director of football operations (2018 to 2020), and the Chiefs assistant general manager where he was the top assistant to Brett Veach of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania (2021 to 2024).
While with the Chiefs organization, Borgonzi won three Super Bowls in 2020, 2023, and 2024. However, let’s make no mistake about it. Even though Veach was the general manager and Borgonzi was the assistant general manager, the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid of Los Angeles, California has the ultimate decision on who are the players on Kansas City who will complement quarterback Patrick Mahomes of Tyler, Texas and tight end Travis Kelce of Westlake, Ohio.Â
In addition to his time in Kansas City, Borgonzi was the tight ends coach at Amherst in 2002, and the assistant recruiting coordinator at Boston College in 2007 and 2008. As a player, he attended Brown University in Rhode Island as a fullback and earned a degree in business management. One of Borgonzi’s first decisions in Tennessee will be a high profile one. That is because the Titans have the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
