The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 7/8

A Hawkes colt who endured a horror show on resumption is this week’s horse to follow from Saturday’s Randwick meeting.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +4.1 units of profit since December
  • 72 bets: 17 wins /28 placings

Remarque – Randwick

  • Race 8
  • Distance: 1100m
  • Class: Listed 3yo

Followers would be well aware of the disaster that came with Remarque on Saturday. From barrier 1 he settled just worse than midfield on the fence and was tracking into the race nicely on the turn before Kerrin McEvoy pocketed him perfectly on Mazu. Berry was forced to come right across heels and by that point the race was gone.

Take nothing away from impressive winner Paulele, who was travelling every bit as well as Remarque when he found trouble and skipped away for a 2.5L victory after carrying an extra 3kg whilst Remarque picked himself off the run an eye-catching 3rd.

Sectionals show that Remarque ran the quickest 200m for every split from 800m-finish besides the 400-200m sectional where he found trouble.

When To Bet

There’s every chance that Paulele and Remarque will meet again this preparation with James Cummings indicating the San Dominico being a likely target next start. Despite the win, Paulele should get in better at the set weights + penalties and would be very difficult to tip against if they meet there. Remarque will be looking for more ground  and will be one to follow leading into the Golden Rose where he may meet some smart 3yos with extra fitness on his side.
