Flemington Race 6Ā  – Alegron

Alegron is a gelding from the Cummings yard that I have been waiting a while to see get out to 2500m in the Victoria Derby. Whilst a lot of these 3yos are a risk of not seeing out the distance, I am supremely confident this guy will after what I’ve seen in the two major lead up races in Sydney.

In the G3 Gloaming he was 3 wide without cover back in the field for the trip before working to the line strongly to finish 3rd behind the class of Head of State and Profondo. He then stepped up to 2000m in the Rosehill Guineas where he produced a grinding 3rd again behind Profondo.

The 2500m looks ideal and I can’t wait to see him go around!

Rosehill Race 6 – Masked Crusader

This race looks perfect for Masked Crusader who has been sensational this campaign. His habit of stepping away slowly cost him the Everest last start but you couldn’t help be impressed by the way he closed off to finish 2nd to Nature Strip by the smallest of margins.

The 1300m looks perfect with plenty of speed to be engaged by the likes of Eduardo and Big Parade who are both suspect at the trip.

Tip: 3 Units Win Masked Crusader @$2.5Ā  withTopSport

Flemington Race 7 – Home Affairs

Comes back to 3yo grade after failing in the Everest. He was ultra impressive the start before in 3yo grade defeating Paulele n the Heritage Stakes. He has come back as an absolute beast of a horse and something tells me the 1200m straight is going to be right up his alley.

What a prize it would be for Waller and Coolmore to win the G1 feature they sponsor and potentially turn this well bred colt into one of the world’s most expensive sires.

Rosehill Race 7 – Count De Rupee

Count De Rupee was sensational in a whirlwind Silver Eagle when the gelding raced wide without cover and was run right off the track when rounding for home. Despite the wind being taken out of his sail, he still managed to pick himself up and charge through the line out wide to just miss by 0.5L.

Before that he impressed 1st up with a dominant 2L victory in a BM88.

He’s drawn well and due for some luck. The Price yard always leave a length or two up the sleeve for these grand finals as we saw with Jamea earlier in the carnival.

Tip: 1 Unit Win Count De Ruppe @$14 with TopSport
