Kamil Majchrzak suspended for doping

According to tennisnow.com, Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak has been suspended indefinitely for testing positive for a banned substance at three tennis tournaments in September and October. Majchrzak reportedly took a drug that contained the anabolic agent SARM S-22. The agent can assist muscle building according to ESPN.

Majchrzak tested positive for the banned substance at the 2022 Sofia Open in Bulgaria from September 26 to October 2, the 2022 Japan Open from October 3-9, and the Seoul Challenger Tournament from October 10-16. At the Sofia Open, Majchrzak beat Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in the first round, 7-5, 6-2, before losing in the second round to the eighth seed, Oscar Otte of Germany, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. At the Japan Open, Majchrzak beat Sho Shimabukuro of Japan 7-6, 6-2 in the first round, before losing to 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios of Australia, the fifth seed, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.

Majchrzak is currently ranked 77th in the world. He has not won an ATP tournament in his career and we do not know how long he will be suspended for. He is the third player suspended this fall, following Simona Halep of Romania, and Fernando Verdasco of Spain.

In other tennis news, two French tennis players have been suspended for life for match fixing. There were multiple incidents dating back to 2014 involving Jules Okala and Mick Lescure according to Pritha Ghosh of Sportskeeda. Meanwhile, the ATP Tour has fined the Lawn Tennis Association in Great Britain $1 million for banning Russians and Belarusians from competing at Wimbledon due to the Russian war in Ukraine according to The Guardian.
