Ten Trades on 2022 NFL Trade Deadline Day

Here is a look at the 10 trades made on NFL trade deadline day on Tuesday.

10) Vikings acquire tight end T.J. Hockenson from the Lions.

The Vikings acquired tight end T.J. Hockenson of Chariton, Iowa with a fourth round draft pick in 2023 and 2024 from the Detroit Lions for a second round pick in 2023 and a third round pick in 2024. Hockenson has spent the last four seasons with the Lions and had 26 catches for 395 yards in 2022.

9) Steelers trade wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Bears.

The Steelers traded wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Bears for a second round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2022, he has 32 catches for 311 yards and one touchdown. The Canadian had a fine rookie season, and will now work with Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Chicago has the least passing yards per game in the NFL.

8) Commanders trade cornerback William Jackson III to the Steelers.

The Steelers acquired cornerback William Jackson III of Houston, Texas from the Washington Commanders with a seventh round pick in 2025 for a sixth round pick in 2025. Pittsburgh becomes Jackson’s third NFL team following four seasons with Cincinnati and two with Washington. In 2022 with the Commanders, Jackson has 16 combined tackles, two pass deflections and one tackle for a loss.

7) Broncos trade linebacker Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins for running back Chase Edmonds.

In one of two trades where multiple players were involved, the Broncos traded linebacker Bradley Chubb of Marietta, Georgia to the Dolphins with a fifth round draft pick in 2025 for running back Chase Edmunds of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a first round pick in 2023, and a fourth round pick in 2024.

Chubb has 26 tackles, eight quarterback hits, 5.5 sacks, four tackles for a loss, two forced fumbled and one pass deflection. Edmonds is joining his third NFL team after four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and one season with the Dolphins. In 2022, he had 42 rushes for 120 yards and two touchdowns, along with 10 catches for 96 yards and another major score. Edmonds was passed on the Dolphins running back depth chart by Raheem Mostert. In Denver, it looks like he will get a lot more carries with the injury to Javonte Williams. 

6) Falcons trade wide receiver Calvin Ridley to the Jaguars.

The Jaguars acquired Calvin Ridley from the Falcons for a fifth round pick in 2023 and a second round pick in 2024. Ridley is suspended for the 2022 NFL season for betting on NFL games. In 49 career games, he has 248 catches for 3342 yards and 28 touchdown receptions.

5) 49ers trade running back Jeff Wilson to the Dolphins.

With the Dolphins trading Edmonds to the Broncos, they acquired Jeff Wilson of Elkhart, Texas as a backup to Mostert from the San Francisco 49ers. Wilson had spent five seasons in San Francisco. In 2022, he had 92 rushes for 468 yards and two touchdowns and 10 catches for 91 yards.

4) Jets trade defensive end Jacob Martin to the Broncos.

Denver needed immediate defensive help after trading Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins. They decided on acquiring linebacker Jacob Martin of Aurora, Colorado from the New York Jets. The Broncos also picked up a fifth round pick in 2024, and the Jets acquired a fourth round pick in 2024. In 2022, Martin had eight combined tackles, four quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. In addition to the Jets, Martin has played one season with the Seattle Seahawks and three seasons with the Houston Texans.

3)Colts trade running back Nyheim Hines to the Bills for running back Zack Moss.

The Indianapolis Colts traded running back Nyheim Hines of Garner, North Carolina to the Buffalo Bills for running back Zack Moss of Hialeah Gardens, Florida and a fifth round pick in 2023. Hines had 18 rushes for 36 rushing yards and one touchdown, and 25 catches for 188 receiving yards in 2022 with the Colts. Moss had 17 rushes for 91 yards and seven catches for 27 yards this season for the Bills.

2) Chiefs trade cornerback Rashad Fenton to the Falcons.

The Kansas City Chiefs traded cornerback Rashad Fenton of Miami, Florida to the Atlanta Falcons for a seventh round draft pick in 2023. In five games this season with the Chiefs, he had 24 combined tackles and two pass deflections.

1) Falcons trade safety Dean Marlowe to the Bills.

The Atlanta Falcons traded safety Dean Marlowe of Queens, New York to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh round pick in 2023. In eight games with the Falcons, Marlowe had 11 tackles. Marlowe is actually returning to Buffalo as he was with them from 2018 to 2020. He also played two seasons with the Carolina Panthers and one season with the Detroit Lions.
