Surround Stakes: What The Jockeys Said
March 1, 2020
Probabeel showed she is all class with a strong win over Funstar in the Surround Stakes On Saturday.
Opie Bosson (Probabeel – 1st)
“She had to do it the hard way. She is just so much stronger this time in. She is an amazing filly.”
“I just got myself into a little bit of a pocket and hit a bit of a flat spot. I’m just lucky enough that this filly was good enough to get me out of it. Otherwise, I didn’t want to be coming back in that’s for sure. Just turning in she lost it until we straightened up.”
James McDonald (Funstar – 2nd)
“Absolutely superb the way she has come back. I can’t wait for her next run.”
Glen Boss (Xilong – 3rd)
“She was very good this girl, first up over 1400m after missing a run. I got in the right spot and I thought she was very strong through the line to finish just behind two very good fillies.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Lyre – 4th)
“Good effort. I was able to use her draw and get a good spot behind the speed. She travelled nicely and picked up like a winner at the furlong but she just levelled out in the last little bit. A good run.”
Brenton Avdulla (Missile Mantra – 5th)
“She was terrific. Back on track now.”
Hugh Bowman (Flit – 6th)
“I was caught wide but my take on it is that she lost that speed second up. I was hoping to win but I’m not disappointed with her.”
Christian Reith (Akari – 7th)
“Much better on top of the ground. From a good draw next start she’s right in the finish.”
Tim Clark (Heart Of The Oak – 8th)
“She ran okay.”
Rachel King (Kiamichi – 9th)
“Didn’t quite run up to her first up attempt, but back on a dry track she finds it a bit harder.”
Andrew Adkins (Aspect Radio – 10th)
“She was okay. She was a little bit on the fresh side and had a blow pulling up. She’ll be better over further.”
Josh Parr (Saas Fee – 11th)
“It turned into a nightmare. I ended up with a nice run early but her tractability wasn’t all that good. It turned into a disaster.”
