Spanish Mission to stay in Australia

Melbourne Cup third place getter Spanish Mission will call Australia home after a deal was finalised by prominent owner Brae Sokolski yesterday.

Spanish Mission will be trained by Peter Moody in Australia who now trains two of the best stayers in the land.

The six-year-old entire was brought over to contest the Melbourne Cup this year and ran a galant third behind Verry Elleegant and his now stablemate Incentivise.

“He came across from Werribee yesterday and he had a little trot and canter and swim at Pakenham this morning.”

“He’s a lovely horse with a great temperament,” said Moody.

Moody now has both Incentivise and Spanish Mission under his care and more than excited at the prospect of the future for the pair.

“It’s certainly exciting isn’t it, Incentivise did one hell of a job throughout the Spring. Obviously we didn’t get the finish we dreamt of,” said Moody.

“Spanish Mission, he obviously had a few interruptions leading into the cup and he profiles as a nice horse. We’re just hoping that he might be able to sharpen up and be competitive sort of in our mile and a quarter, mile and a half type of races,” he said.
