The Seattle Seahawks are winners of Super Bowl LX. On Sunday from San Francisco, the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 for their second Super Bowl in franchise history. They previously clobbered the Denver Broncos 43-8 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The Super Bowl MVP was Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III of Arlington, Texas. Walker III had 27 rushes for 135 rushing yards and four catches for 26 receiving yards. The 135 rushing yards were the most Walker III has had in a single game this season. The running back with the most rushing yards in a single Super Bowl was Timmy Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico, who had 204 rushing yards in Super Bowl XXII, in a 42-10 Washington win over the Denver Broncos.
This year’s Super Bowl will forever be remembered for the dominant Seahawks defense. I already discussed the fact a Seahawks defensive player should have been Super Bowl MVP. Anyone of six Seahawks defensive players could have been selected. Remember, when the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl, the MVP was on defense, with linebacker Malcolm Smith of Woodland Hills, California being honoured. In this particular game, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was just as confused as Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was on Sunday.
We are also seeing the emergence of Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald. On Sunday, MacDonald became the third youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl. MacDonald is 38 years old. The only two coaches younger to win the Super Bowl were Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams (36), and Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (36).
