According to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Saturday, the Seattle Seahawks have brought back their star linebacker, Bobby Wagner of Los Angeles, California. After one season where he played with the Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks signed Wagner to a one-year deal worth $7 million.
In 17 games last season with the Rams, Wagner had 140 combined tackles (81 solo tackles and 59 assisted  tackles), 10 tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hits, six sacks, two interceptions for 13 yards, and five pass deflections.
Wagner had 10 outstanding seasons with the Seahawks to begin his career from 2012 to 2021. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eight straight seasons from 2014 to 2021. Wagner also led the NFL in fumble recoveries for a touchdown (two in 2015), combined tackles (167 in 2016, and 159 in 2019), solo tackles (97 in 2017), and one safety in 2017.

Wagner was also involved in the biggest game in Seahawks franchise history. On February 2, 2014, Wagner had 10 combined tackles (five solo tackles and five assisted tackles) as the Seahawks clobbered the Denver Broncos 43-8 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey in Super Bowl XLVIII. It was also Seattle’s only Super Bowl title ever.
Many thought the Seahawks would take a step back this past season after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. However, it was the Seahawks with quarterback Geno Smith at the helm, that made the playoffs at nine wins and eight losses, while the Broncos struggled at five wins and 12 losses. It will now be interesting if the Seahawks make any significant strides defensively in 2023 with Wagner back in the fold.
