Rosehill Review: Dajraan Heading For The Ingham

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott attack on the $2 million The Ingham was strengthened with the impressive performance of Dajraan to win the Group 2 Festival Stakes (1500 metres) at Rosehill on Saturday.

After the win Bott said Dajraan would join the in-form Riodini and possibly Surf Dancer in The Ingham which will be held over 1600 metres at Randwick on December 10.

Dajraan was powerful winning the Festival Stakes as he had to work across from his outside barrier in the early stages to sit second behind Coal Crusher.

Tim Clark then surged him to the front with 300 metres to go and he held off challenges from Mirra Vision and Kirwan’s Lane.

Bott said that Dajraan was suited by getting on to a firm track.

“I was a little worried about 1500m first-up (for two months) and we were worried about the draw but he got into a lovely position then was able to switch off,” Bott said..

“We came here today hoping he could run top three today and that would put him on target for The Ingham but his win shows he is right into contention for that race.

He continued the great run in Australia by horses by Frankel in recent weeks joining the likes of My Whisper, Soulcombe, Francesco Guardi, Green Fly, Argentia and King Frankel as recent winners.
