Rosehill Preview: Portelli Star Pair Return In The Rose At Rosehill
September 8, 2022
GARY Portelli will pit his big guns against each other when his star filly Fireburn and gun colt Sejardan resume in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200 metres) at Rosehill on Saturday.
Fireburn won the Golden Slipper and the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes and was named Australia’s champion two-year-old last weekend.
Sejardan won three of his five starts including the Group 2 Todman Stakes at Randwick before he finished ninth in the Golden Slipper Stakes.
TopSport has Fireburn a $6 chance with Sejardan a $9 chance in the three-year-old event.
In an open race, the Kacy Fodgen trained Best Of Bordeaux, who disappointed when a first-up fifth despite finding trouble is favourite at $3.70 with the Tony Gollan trained Nettuno next best at $4.60.

James Cummings who trains the $5 third favourite in three-year-old filly In Secret said it was one of the strongest Group 2 races he had seen.
“She’s had three starts and she’s improved every start, so you can’t ask for much more,” Cummings said.
“I thought she returned with a little bit left in hand. Therefore, she hasn’t been flattened by the first-up performance.”
In Secret finished an unlucky first-up second in the Silver Shadow Stakes behind Zougotcha as she was held up for a run in the straight.
“It’s a pretty good set-up for her, but as good as the set-up is there’s no hiding from the fact this is one of the strongest G2s around,” he said.
