Rockets deliver with impressive comeback win over 76ers

The Houston Rockets had an impressive comeback on Monday in their 144-137 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. They were once down by 25 points (88-63) with one minute and 43 seconds into the second half, before coming back to outscore Philadelphia 81-49. The Rockets’s biggest quarter was the third quarter, as they outscored the 76ers 45-24.

Unlike Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, who won the Players Championship earlier on St. Patrick’s Day, there does not appear to be any active Rockets player with Irish heritage. However after Monday night, the entire Rockets organization will believe in the luck of the Irish.

The 25 point comeback win by Houston tied their biggest comeback in franchise history. They also came back from a 25-point deficit on December 16, 2009 in a 109-107 win over the San Antonio Spurs. The Rockets were once trailing 69-44 to the San Antonio Spurs before winning by a single two point field goal.

In the Rockets win over the 76ers, two Rockets players scored 30 points. They were shooting guard Jalen Green of Merced, California and power forward Jabari Smith of Fayetteville, Georgia. Meanwhile, Canadian small forward Dillon Brooks of Mississauga, Ontario had 25 points, power forward Tari Eason of Portsmouth, Virginia had 21 points, and center Alperen Sengun of Giresun, Turkey had 13 points. Green and Sengun had double-doubles as Green had 13 assists and Sengun had 11 rebounds.

Since beating San Antonio on Monday, the Rockets have beaten the Orlando Magic 116-108 on Wednesday. Houston are winners of eight straight games and have the second best record in the Western Conference at 45 wins and 25 losses.
