According to the Associated Press on Friday, the Baltimore Ravens have come to terms with running back Melvin Gordon of Kenosha, Wisconsin on a one-year contract worth $3.1 million. The Ravens will be Gordon’s third National Football League franchise. He previously played with the Chargers from 2015 to 2019, and the last three seasons while with the Denver Broncos from 2020 to 2022.

Last season in Denver, Gordon had 90 rushes for 318 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He also had 25 catches for 223 receiving yards. In Gordon’s career, he has had 1567 rushes for 6462 rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns. He also has 309 catches for 2467 receiving yards and 14 touchdown catches.

Gordon’s most significant NFL success came with the Chargers. There he was selected to the Pro Bowl with the San Diego Chargers in 2016, and with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018. While with the San Diego Chargers seven years ago, Gordon had 254 rushes for 997 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, along with 41 catches for 419 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While with the Los Angeles Chargers five years ago, he had 175 rushes for 885 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, along with 50 catches for a career-high 490 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. It is interesting that the year Gordon reached 1000 yards rushing with the Chargers in 2017 (1105 rushing yards), he was not selected to the Pro Bowl.

Gordon played his college football in his home state, at the University of Wisconsin. He was then selected in the first round, 15th overall, by the San Diego Chargers in the 2015 National Football League Draft. Gordon was the second running back drafted in 2015. The first was Todd Gurley of Baltimore, Maryland, who was taken 10th overall by the St. Louis Rams.

In Baltimore, Gordion is expected to share the workload at running back with Gus Edwards of Monrovia, Liberia. It appears J.K. Dobbins of Houston, Texas may miss the start of the season with a knee injury.
