Randwick Preview: Handicap Has Waller Hinged For The Epsom
October 1, 2022
MASTER trainer Chris Waller has identified Hinged as a horse who may have beaten the handicapper when she starts in the Epsom Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.
Waller has three runners in the Epsom Handicap with Hinged joined by Fangirl and Kiku.
TopSport has Hinged as a $4 second favourite behind Icebath at $3.90. Fangirl is $10 and Kiku is $31.
Waller has won four Epsom Handicaps having won with Boban (2013), He’s Your Man (2014), Winx (2015) and Kolding (2019).
Hinged finished third at her last start in the weight-for-age Group 1 George Main Stakes at Randwick behind Anamoe and Icebath.

On that occasion she carried 56.5kg and she will drop to 51.5kg on Saturday.
“She’s got a lot in her favour. She’s the handicapper’s tip with the weight drop. Barrier nine might be tricky but with Kerrin McEvoy on she can go forward or take a sit off them,”’ Waller said.

At her last start Fangirl finished fifth in the George Main Stakes and Waller said they would change their riding tactics with her.
“She was a little disappointing last start but she may have been ridden a bit closer so maybe she’ll be ridden a bit quieter,” he said. Members Can View Hub Here
Waller’s third representative is five-year-old mare Kiku who was a surprise winner of the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes first-up over 1300m at Randwick on September 10.
“It was a terrific first-up win and for her drawing barrier 11 isn’t too much of an issue with her racing style. She couldn’t have been any more impressive. She likes Randwick and she handles the mile. She also handles heavy tracks,” he said.
